An Inuksuk is a landmark made of stone built by humans. Used by the Inuit and many other peoples of North America, these structures were used as navigation markers as a point of reference. As a young girl I remember travelling to my Grandparents home in Barrie, Ontario and passing many Inuksuks along the way. Here in Les Contamines “Signal” has become a meeting place for me and my new friends, this Massive Inuksuk de la neige is constructed at the arrival of Signal Gondola.
You will notice that the arms gave way before we finished constructing it, I am learning that land art is very dependant on many things…today the culprit was the warmth of the beautiful sun.
